Okay. Okay. Somewhere in the concavity that is my mind I think that if I post this I’ll stop tweaking it. So I am posting it. Good.
This time the prompt was 12-year-olds. That’s it. My teacher thinks I have a penchant for drawing sexy ladies so I guess prepubescent clowns are good too, right? Right. He also said something about it being a book cover, so I just sort of threw in there that it’s for ‘The Night Circus,’ so I’ve got my bases covered methinks.
and so as not to cause any confusion with Dateline and Chris Hansen I even labeled the folder for the ‘To Catch a Predator’ people:

you’re welcome
Today we had a one-class assignment where we had to sit on the torture devices the school likes to call stools for six hours straight, but I digress. We came into class to 50 prompts posted on the front wall and the class each had to choose one, no one could do the same assignment (they were mostly editorial work)
I chose a piece for a children’s magazine. It was story about a boy who befriends a star, but as the star stays out of the sky for too long it gets sick and the boy has to send the star back into the sky.
Thumbnails first!

we were given about an hour to get thumbnail ideas before one or two were approved and we could move onto sketches

we were given a bit longer to do sketches but I’m the fast and sloppy type so I got those approved a bit faster so I could move onto the finish faster!

aanndd a work in progress before I got to the final (seen above) I work in grayscale before layering colors on top of it since it goes a LOT faster. Think of it like an oil painting.
All in all, I think it isn’t so bad for only having about 4 hours to finish a complete piece. I honestly didn’t know I could work that fast!
ANOTHER mock book cover! Coraline’s one of my favorite books, but since it’s Neil Gaiman I think that goes without saying. Amirite or amirite?
I tried to take aspects from both the book and the movie and get something believable that’s between both of them, like orange book-boots and blue(black) movie hair!
thanks for all the word prompts! Now you can see what my ugly sketches look like hahaha~ As you can see I used quite a bit from different people and pushed them together in different drawings, so all is good! (Scaramouche are just clowns in my head xD)
My assignment was a “book cover” with a 12-year-old subject, by the way!
(my teacher chose the circus/instrument one for me to finish in the next couple of weeks)
School assignment. We were only given the word “zebra” and were told to make an image from that. If you’re wondering where the zebras happen to be in this then look no further, friends: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zebra_crossing
